Some say that you should either make a lot of money doing your “job,” or that you should love doing that job so much that the work itself doesn’t matter. I say that you should love what you do and make a lot of money doing it.
Through decades of personal experience – trial and error, victory and defeat – I have learned that by having a clear vision of what is important to me that I can have both passion and money in my professional life. I traveled a long bumpy road to come to this understanding, but fortunately you do not have to.
You can “live your truth” professionally. You can love what you do every day, and you can naturally earn a great living in the process. In this first blog post, you will take the first step necessary to designing a life of world impact. This will lead you to a life of truth. A life of truth gives you both passion and “true” wealth.
Step 1 – Align Your Passion and Gifts with Your Career Path
We often make our career choices for the wrong reasons. Here are a few examples of “the wrong reasons.” Perhaps they will sound familiar.Read More
FOCUS On Your “Genius Zone”
Do you spend lots of time trying to overcome your weaknesses? It’s time to “manage” your weaknesses, and invest the majority of your time and efforts on doubling down on your unique gifts, the pathway to what I call your “Genius Zone”!
I realize this might fly in the face of what you have been taught by people in your life.
When we were growing up as kids, many of us had parents who were always correcting us on this and that, and hammering us on the need to improve in areas that they felt were important. Our teachers in school pretty much did the same thing.
In the late 80’s and 90’s, most of the management development training in the business world focused on things like 360 degree reviews where the manager would evaluate the employee to find his or her areas for improvement (a nice way to say their weaknesses), and a plan would be put together to focus on mitigating those weaknesses.
I’ve found that this approach certainly makes practical sense, but it doesn’t allow you to produce breakthrough results, which happen when you’re operating in your Genius Zone.Read More
What do thought-leaders Malcolm Gladwell, Florence Scovel Shinn, and Napoleon Hill all have in common? They have all talked about the critical importance of focus.
Studying the great achievers of the world, I learned that to reach my greatest potential, and to achieve TRUE Wealth would require me to establish and focus on my personal definite major purposes (DMP). I came to accept this as an overriding success framework that I must commit to in order to achieve any long-term goal.
To demonstrate, let’s consider the work of Napoleon Hill. He is widely known as one of the pioneers in the field of personal development, and his famous book called “Think & Grow Rich” emphasizes the importance of applying laser focus to any goal you wish to achieve. Countless thought-leaders and multimillion-dollar entrepreneurs swear by the strategies explained in Hill’s book. These people all talk about how they benefitted from what Hill called “Definiteness of Purpose,” which is “the habit of focusing your actions and thoughts on one high and desirable goal in life.”Read More
It’s achieving freedom from the 7 Deadly Shackles and becoming your greatest “SELF.”
The 7 Deadly Shackles are the enemies that rob us of our inner happiness and fulfillment, and prevent us from reaching our greatest potential.
This certainly has been the case for me on my journey…
Let me introduce you to the 7 Deadly Shackles, the enemies that I’ve declared all out war against in my life:
Take a moment to ponder this list for your self and ask the question. Am I completely FREE?
When I took a personal inventory of this list back in 2007, I realized that although I’d been super successful at making money… and at accumulating lots of titles, and material things that mainstream society says makes you Wealthy…Read More
I’ve told you my story. And, now it’s your turn. Ask yourself: “Am I living my truth?” Or, are you simply allowing the world to determine who you are and what you will accomplish in life? Remember: your fulfillment and happiness is your responsibility. So…How do we start your awakening process?
We start by asking ourselves some self-assessment questions. Socrates, one of the great philosophers, said it best when he said: “To know thyself is the beginning of wisdom.” That’s exactly what I did to awaken the warrior within me, and you can too!
These are the 12 self-assessment questions that I answered for myself, and I want to pass them on to you for your consideration now. By carefully considering each question, the ones that apply to you will begin to awaken your inner warrior and set you on your path to discovering your truth:
In my last blog, Awaken your Warrior Part 1, I told you that I would get personal with you and share a little history about me, and how the domestication process put my inner warrior to sleep. As promised, here is the story of how I woke my warrior. Let’s start at the beginning.
The photo to the right is an image of me when I was three years old. My mom is on the right-hand side of the photo. My grandmother is on the left. When I was seven—four years after this picture was taken—my mother committed suicide and I lost her instantly. The next year, my grandmother (who was like my mom to me) died suddenly from a brain aneurism. So, all of a sudden I found myself dealing with a heart-breaking dose of childhood trauma.Read More

In this three-part blog post, we’re going to help awaken the warrior that’s within you–and it starts with realizing that we are all natural-born warriors. I was born a warrior. You were born a warrior. But somewhere along the way we lost that passion, that fire in the belly.
So what happened? Well, the sad truth is that we get domesticated early on. Various things can happen to us in the first 5 to 8 years of our lives that actually subdue our drive, and this experience often puts our internal warrior to sleep.
Let’s talk about a few common sources of domestication.
